Every Friday night my kids and I enjoy pull-out couch movie night. It's just how it sounds, we sleep on the pull out couch (which my kids are totally thrilled about) and watch a movie. I try to get a good "family" movie either from the Redbox or the library. I like to enjoy the movie too. Tonight I was lucky enough to find Short Circuit in the On Demand free movies. So my kids get to experience "Johnny 5 is alive".
I can remember exactly when I saw this movie as a kid. I was 12 (1987 I think), and on a very long plane ride to Hawaii. My baby sis was 7 and she loved to say "number 5 is alive" all the time after that. We took a family vacation to the big Island b/c my dad had a pizza convention, and aside from the plane tickets it was a free trip. Beautiful place, Hawaii. I think my big bro and sis enjoyed it more b/c they were 17 and 19, I was only a timid skinny lil' pre-teen.
So now as I am swallowed up in my nostalgia, I get to enjoy my children getting caught up in Johnny 5, and wishing I was back in Hawaii.

Thanks for the nostalgia. I used to love that movie, too. Whenever I hear, "More Than a Woman" I think of that dancing scene with Ally Sheedy. Hee hee! I also think of "forward" a lot. Hmmm... It would seem that Short Circuit has affected my adult life more than I realized. :)
